Klein bottle

Felix Klein, 1882

Two Möbius bands glued along their edges. It has no inside and no outside, and in our three dimensions it cannot be made without passing through itself: here the neck dives through the wall. In four dimensions it would close cleanly.

    Klein bottle, single surface model

Alan Bennett · Object · Science Museum Group, London

One of a series of glass Klein bottles blown for the Science Museum. Some in the series are cut open to show the two Möbius bands a Klein bottle is made of.

An AI reviewer had doubts, 2026-10-09: The library's entry for the shape says "Two Möbius bands glued along their edges.", and the work's title names a Klein bottle, so the shape link holds. Nothing in the records mentions glass, a blown series for the Science Museum, or examples cut open, and the holder's page could not be read, so those specifics are unsupported.
