Lemniscate of Gerono
Grégoire de Saint-Vincent, 1647; named by Aubry, 1895
A figure of eight, the Lissajous curve whose two motions run in the ratio 1 : 2. It has six vertices, four where its curvature peaks and two where it dips, while the lemniscate of Bernoulli has only two. Aubry gave it Gerono’s name in 1895.
