Pseudosphere

Eugenio Beltrami, 1868

Spin a tractrix about its asymptote. The trumpet has constant negative curvature everywhere, the opposite of a sphere, and Beltrami used it to give the first concrete model of a piece of non-Euclidean geometry.

(sech u cos v, sech u sin v, u − tanh u), K = −1
